My dad took me and Pat on a hike up what we called the "switchbacks" on Lofar Mountain. Since our house was at the base of the mountain we just started the hike from the house. I remember getting up to the second to last switchback and we heard a lot of commotion on the other side of the mountain along with barking (maybe growling). There was a pack of wild dogs that lived on the mountain and I believe that is what we heard. I remember being nervous and I was glad when my dad decided that we should turn around and go down. That wasn't the end of our hike though, we went all the way to the base of Woodland Hills and hiked up a canyon between Lofar Mountain and Tower mountain, heading east. I don't remember much of the lower canyon but I remember hiking a lot that day and being scared of the dogs AND I remember getting home from the hike and Mom making fun of Dad for being scared of a few dogs :) But to my dads credit, if I was hiking with my kids today and the same thing happened I would turn around and leave too... I just wouldn't want to be in a position to fend of a pack of dogs while defending my kids. If one got through and bit (or worse) one of my kids I would feel horrible. Mom did have a right to talk though since earlier that year a number of those dogs were getting into our garbage at the top of our driveway and I watched my mom go and fight them off. I say fight because the dogs didn't just go away when she yelled at them, I remember a few of them jumping at her and I think one of them even bit her hair when she was picking up the garbage.
Does anyone else remember these wild dogs? Please comment if you do... I'm always curious to see how others remember the events I remember.

Nope, don't remember any wild dogs. I do remember being mad at dogs that got in our garbage! Maybe in your mind they were wild and they were just neighbor dogs out making our life miserable. I am sorry you remember me making fun of dad.
